3/27 Cat Rescuer of the Day: Kera Sollami

The Cat Rescuer of the Day

The Cat Rescuers is an upcoming documentary about four dedicated volunteers who are saving the lives of hundreds of abandoned and feral cats on the streets of Brooklyn.

Our film calls attention to a global issue being addressed by thousands of organizers and heroic human beings – those who do TNR, volunteer at shelters, take on fosters, what have you.  Since we could only put a fraction of those wonderful people in our film, we’ve created the Cat Rescuer of the Day program to celebrate the efforts of as many as possible.

Meet Today’s Rescuer: Kera Sollami from Scranton, PA!

Rescue Efforts:

I have been involved in cat rescue since i was a teenager. I have fostered in the past and cared for feral cat colonies. I currently volunteer with In Pursuit of Grace, a 501c3 non profit animal based community outreach organization. I am their administrative assistant and adoption coordinator. I also help to TNR feral cats, care for colonies, build and distribute feral cat houses, and transport cats to and from appointments. I have been with In Pursuit of Grace for two years.

One Rescue I’ll Never Forget Was…

Freddy was a cat that was involved in a domestic violence situation. His mom had to leave him behind when she left and her ex ended up throwing Freddy outdoors to fend for himself. After three years we were able to find Freddy and reunite him with his Mom.

One Thing I wish People Understood about Cats or Cat Rescuing Is…

I wish people understood that these cats just want to survive. It is not their fault that they are feral or stray, humans did that to them.

When I’m Not Rescuing Cats, I Like to…

Dog rescue! Actually, when I’m not involved in rescue, my world revolves around my own pets, two dogs (Lola & Teensy) and one cat (Amzie).

I’m Looking Forward to  The Cat Rescuers Film Because…

I hope it brings attention and understanding to the world of cat rescue. For people to see what these cats and their rescuers go through.
